From Byker Grove, Pop idol and Celebrity get me out of here Ant and Dec had a lot of reputation to lose from the move of television to film. Being household names many fans have gone to watch this film purely because Ant and Dec star as the main characters. I for one am a fan of the comedy duo and was expecting the laughs to come by the barrel loads. Although I found parts of the film amusing I wouldn’t say it was side splittingly funny.

I watched this film with an open opinion, as I had heard mixed reviews before hand. Basically Ray Santilli (Declan Donnelly) and Gary Shoefield (Ant McPartlin) are friends who have the evidence that other life forms exist in the universe and the film follows the story of who they came across the amazing discovery. The storyline keeps you going throughout the film constantly wondering if this is finally the big break Ray is searching for.

The film is based on true events, which many didn’t realise and I thought that Ant and Dec played the roles extremely well, though I hope this doesn’t mean that they will neglect their television careers. Still an enjoyable film to watch once is enough though. What will you think? The verdict is out there……….

As a fan of the classic horror game Silent Hill I was slightly worried that the film would be a disaster and a massive flop. Well how wrong could I be……the film had the same creepy, tense atmosphere as the game and managed to keep me on my seat throughout the entire film. Not many know that the game was based on an actual town in Centralia, Pennsylvania. This is a ghost town deserted by its townsfolk due to a coal fire burning beneath the ground since 1962.

The story goes Rose Da Silva (Radha Mitchell) has a sick daughter Sharon (Jodelle Ferland) who sleep walks at night and regularly calls out the name of a place called Silent Hill.
Being curious Rose drives herself and Sharon to the spooky town which is supposedly haunted, on arrival Sharon goes missing and Rose starts her grisly task of searching the town in hope of finding her daughter.

The effects used in the film are brilliant, the ambience which is created from the fog surrounding the town, gives you the suspense of not knowing what’s going to happen next and many surprises occur on the journey to finding Sharon. At the beginning I found the acting a little dry but as the story progressed so did the standard of the acting, overall each character was played well and very believable in their roles.

What makes Silent Hill one of the best game based films is that the soundtrack is taken from the game, so any fans of the computer based version will be able to relate to original. Again the music is a key part to any horror and sound effects give the jump a minute thrill satisfaction. The attention to detail was brilliant with the names of the buildings used in the film matching the ones in the game.

Overall I would recommend Silent Hill to fans of the game and anyone who is new to the most famous horror town of the gaming world. There’s enough to keep everyone entertained.

If you do decide to watch then I hope you enjoy your stay at Silent Hill…….
